Materials Used in Defense Applications

4340 and 4140 alloy steels in hardened condition, H13 and D2 tool steel, 17-4 PH and 15-5 PH stainless, Inconel 718, titanium alloys, tungsten and tungsten carbide, beryllium copper (wire EDM). Defense components often require machining in fully hardened condition to maintain dimensional control through heat treatment — EDM performs identically on annealed or fully hardened material, which eliminates the distortion risk of post-heat-treat grinding.
